Caramel Frosting

This easy caramel frosting recipe is fluffy and simple to make! You can use store-bought or homemade caramel sauce.

Caramel Buttercream Ingredients

Make caramel sauce (optional): Heat sugar & water over medium heat in a light-colored saucepan.


Stir continuously as bubbles start to form. Keep stirring until clumps break down & mixture is an amber color.


Turn heat to low. Slowly add chunks of butter. Stir vigorously until combined. Stir in cream.


Allow caramel to cool slightly. Pour into a glass container or mason jar & store in the fridge.


Make frosting: cream butter with a mixer. Add confectioners' sugar and beat 2 minutes.


With mixer on low, slowly add caramel sauce, then milk & salt. Beat until smooth & fluffy.
