Prep: 5 minutesmins
Total: 5 minutesmins
Servings: 12cupcakes
This is my go to chocolate buttercream frosting when I need a quick chocolate fix. Because its made with cocoa powder it only takes a few minutes to make- no need to melt any chocolate. The flavor is still really rich and chocolatey thanks to the hot, brewed coffee that deepens the flavor profile. If you need an easy and quick chocolate frosting, save this one because you'll come back to it time and time again!
1cupunsalted butter, softened at room temperature (227g)
⅔cupunsweetened cocoa powder, (65g)

Instructions
In the bowl of a hand mixer or stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, add in the 1 cup butter, and ⅔ cup cocoa powder and mix on medium speed for 1 minute.
Add in the 3 cups of confectioners sugar and mix on medium speed until combined, about another minute

Storage and Freezing Instructions
Storing: To store buttercream frosting, place it in an airtight container. Leave it on the counter if you are using it the within 1 day. If you want to make it a few days in advance, put it in the fridge. Take it out an hour before you want to use it so that it isn't too hard to pipe or frost.Freezing: To freeze buttercream frosting, place it in a freezer-safe bag or container and store it in the freezer for up to three months. When ready to use, let the frosting thaw overnight in the fridge. Once defrosted, add it back into a bowl and whip until fluffy.
