Ingredients you need
- Frozen Banana – You’ll need a frozen banana that is ripe with natural sweetness to blend into the smoothie.
- Brewed Coffee – Your favorite brewed coffee or cold brew gives this smoothie a proper buzz.
- Vanilla Greek Yogurt – Adds a tang and creaminess.
- Nut Butter – I use sunbutter but you can use whatever you like.
- Maple Syrup – helps to sweeten if the coffee is too bitter.
- Garnish – Sprinkle the top with granola and dark chocolate chunks to round it out!
A note on Bananas
Frozen bananas work better in smoothies because the alternative is adding ice which could water down your smoothie and turn it into more of a slushie with little pieces of ice. If you dont have frozen bananas you can add the ice, just remember the texture can be different.
The more spotty the bananas the better! They will make your smoothie more sweet the more ripe they are.
To freeze bananas- un peel them and wrap them in plastic wrap. Stick them in a freezer safe bag and save for your next smoothie!

How to make this smoothie

Blend until smooth: Layer the ingredients into a personal-sized blender such as a Magic Bullet. Pulse to break up the banana chunks, then blend until smooth and creamy.
Garnish and serve: Pour into a large glass or travel mug, then top with granola and dark chocolate chunks. Enjoy!

TIPS FOR RECIPE SUCCESS
- When choosing a banana for smoothies, you’ll want to make sure it’s ripe. The browner, the better! This will ensure a naturally sweet flavor without adding any extra sugar.
- To help the blender work better, chop the frozen banana into pieces before blending. This will make it easier for the blender to break down all of the ingredients.
- If you don’t have a frozen banana, you can add up to one cup of ice into the blender. The smoothie may have more of a thinner consistency.
- You can adjust the sweetness of this coffee banana smoothie by adding more or less maple syrup as desired.
- You can also use coffee ice cubes if you want to enjoy your smoothie cold. Simply freeze brewed coffee into ice cube trays for easy coffee cubes that won’t water down your drink.
STORAGE AND FREEZING
This frozen smoothie is best enjoyed immediately as the frozen banana will melt and create a thinner consistency.
If you have any extra, you can freeze it for up to 4 weeks. To freeze, pour the coffee banana smoothie into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid. Then, transfer into an airtight container or bag and store in the freezer until ready to use. Blend the smoothie cubes with some milk to bring to a smoothie consistency.
