Have you ever thought of putting Nutella in a frosting? I mean we can all lick it from a spoon but if you wanna be a high achiever with me (😂) then lets go the extra mile and make it into a frosting too.

As a trained pastry chef and someone who has made hundreds of frosting recipes over the last 12 years, this was one I was super excited to make- I mean, it’s Nutella, hello.

You just need 4 ingredients – unsalted butter, powdered sugar, Nutella, and milk and 5 minutes to put this all together.

Cream the butter and powdered sugar together, add in the Nutella and milk, and whip until smooth. It’s that easy, and delicious!

There are many ways to use Nutella icing, but the best way is to pipe it on Nutella cupcakes! The creamy texture of the frosting holds it’s shape well, making it ideal for creating beautiful designs with a piping bag.

But you can also use it to frost a chocolate cake, or even fudgy brownies.

And if you love this nutty chocolate frosting, try making Whipped Chocolate Frosting, Chocolate Brownie Frosting, or Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting!

TIPS FOR RECIPE SUCCESS

  • Make sure your butter is at room temperature before starting the recipe. This will make it easier to cream with powdered sugar and create a smooth, fluffy frosting. Learn how to soften butter quickly here.
  • Sift the powdered sugar before adding it to the mixer to remove any lumps help create a smoother consistency.
  • If the frosting is too thick or stiff, add a little extra milk or cream, a teaspoon at a time, until it thins out. Be careful not to add too much liquid, or the frosting may become too runny.
